User talk:Arapurakal
Welcome Ravi to PubWis.
My name is Tristan, I set this site on the planet.
You are the first real user.
I had done nothing to promote the site,
and had also just gotten busy with other projects.
Do you recall how you discovered this site ?
Your contributions are valuable. Thank you.
They will also slowly become useful to attract
more users, as they will be picked up by Google.
many greetings,
Tristan Laurillard

Thank you for the welcome, Tristan.
And on behalf of our species, or 'the public', thank you for the site.
My main project is to advance the development of 'Species Intelligence'
as distinct from 'Individual Intelligence'.
In the process of finding others who might be working on similar projects,
I googled 'Societal Intelligence', 'Societal Intelligence', 'Public Intelligence',
'Species Wisdom', 'Societal Wisdom' and 'Public Wisdom'.
Your site appeared on the first page of the 'Public Wisdom' search.
The questions are all of a single formula, and find I am slowly losing
motivation to respond. I would love to see some new questions, from
you or any of your friends and associates.
That could ignite more motivation to continue responding frequently.
My name is Ravi Arapurakal. I am based in Princeton, New Jersey, USA.

The current questions are all datamined from Jiddu Krishnamurti's work.
I have also compiled a list of many questions from U.G. Krishnamurti,
but those are not in the PubWis database yet.
Is there work available in some digital text form
wherefrom you think I should extract all questions ?
It could be ebooks, PDF's, whatever.
I just filter the complete body of text to
return a long list of any sentence that starts
with a capital and ends with a question mark.
( This is why there are many meaningless questions
coming up when you hit the shuffle link, such as Excuse me, Sir? )
You could send me material you
have written yourself if you wish to add them.
It is not much work for me to process the
haystack, the texts, to extract all the needles, the questions.
On my todo-list: Questions are supposed to be coming up, daily,
on http://twitter.com/pubwis -- although I have not programmed this yet.
This way someone could, for example, get
an SMS every day with some life-question,
and see the next day what members have come up with.
You do know you can simply ad any question you wish,
via the homepage, right ?
Lastly, there is one additional thing you could do.
If you look on http://ugkrishnamurti.org/ug/obi/index.html
you see about one-third down, an underlined question that reads
Where is this mind these chaps have been talking about?
When you click on this line, you come to a PubWis page where
anyone can actually answer ( or discuss ) this question.
If you have material written somewhere on-line,
and wish to allow anyone to take a shot at
answering a question, you can do the same.
Here is how:
At the very bottom of your HTML-file,
just before </body>,
you place <script type="text/javascript" src="http://pubwis.com/q.js"></script>
Then, say you have somewhere in your text a question (or perhaps many questions)
After all, why would you want to live forever ?
This, you then change to
After all, <span class="q">why would you want to live forever ?</span>
which would result into something that looks like
After all, why would you want to live forever ?
Would you be interested in embedding (like one 'embeds' a YouTube video)
a discussion that takes place on PubWis, but then on one of your own web pages ?
I could develop something so that your website visitors
do not have to leave your site, and can share their thoughts right there.

Thank you, dear Tristan!
Thank you for opening up all of these possibilities! I would like to
begin with a few questions I would ideally like you to add to all of
the other questions that are already in your question database.
Here they are:
1. What or Who are we?
2. What is the world?
3. What is our relationship with the world?
4. What is our relationship to one another?
5. How do we operate in the world?
6. How did we come to become so dangerous to ourselves and the world?
7. What is the best way to reduce our danger to ourselves and the world?
Please also let me know how I may find these questions, so that I may
answer them.
Thanks again,
Ravi

All you need to do to publish your answers of these 7 questions on PubWis
is to type them in the text field on the homepage of publicwisdom.com,
and, ( as I saw you already tried with What or Who are we? ), hit the Ask button.
Then you can write your answer in the same manner
as to the questions you have been answering since July.
Right now, others can find your questions and answers,
by clicking on the link on the homepage of PubWis that says recent wisdom.
When I have the time for it, I will move that section
to the homepage, so that anyone can immediately see,
when visiting PubWis, what the latest entries are.
The database of never answered questions is huge. Thousands and thousands.
If I were to add your 7 questions to it,
the only effect would be that occasionally these
would come up, either by visitors entering the homepage,
or clicking on the shuffle link.
Once someone ( you or whoever ) has actually written
their version of the answer, the questions become manifest
on PubWis, which currently just means they appear under the recent wisdom link,
and that, of course, as the wiki concept allows,
anyone can read and edit the answer.
